Bob taught history and geography, worked as a guidance counselor for a year, and then developed an innovative approach to the humanities curriculum for the 8th and 9th grade.
Beloved by fellow teachers and students, T/E School District nominated him for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year in 1972 and he was one of ten finalists. Bob continued his education and was certified in English, which is what he taught until retiring in 1992.

After his service in the U.S. Navy, Bob attended Eastern Baptist College, now Eastern University, earning his B.S. in 1962 and graduating second in his class. In 1967, he earned his master’s degree in education from West Chester University.
A passionate outdoorsman, Bob started a hunting and fishing club, one of his hobbies. He coached basketball and baseball, taught Sunday School at his church, worked part-time for his Aunt Mary Wallace, owner of a downtown Malvern luncheonette, taking his two children, Bobby and Brenda, with him on alternating Saturdays to learn the value of work ( as well as dishing up and serving his favorite treat, ice cream).
Each summer, he worked full- time at the Pierce and Stevens Chemical Corporation (formerly in Kimberton, PA).
Bob had a large backyard garden where he grew and shared fresh produce with family, neighbors, and friends.
His other hobbies were working on cars, especially Volkswagen beetles, and hunting, making an annual trek to the Pocono Mountains with his buddies. These three days were his infamous hunting “flu”, as he rarely took a day off from work.
Bob was a devoted family man, a wonderful friend, colleague and mentor; a dedicated teacher, and a man who lived by the principle of love your neighbor as yourself.
Above all else, he was a believer and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is how he would most like to be remembered.
Bob was married to his long-time sweetheart, Shirley Blair Walton, for 56 years before her death in 2011.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda ( Michael) Gibbore, his son, Robert ( Pamela) Warren, and his dearly loved grandchildren, Brandon (Jacklyn) Mormello, Andrea Warren, and Michelle Warren, as well as great-grandchildren Charles and Emily.
He is also survived by his sister Joyce Scaringi, brothers George and Phillip Warren, and sister Barbara Lasher, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, January 28th at Brick Lane Community Church, 52 S.Brick Lane, Elverson, PA 19520. Visitation is at 10 am and services will begin at 11:00.
