For the fourth year in a row, donated school buses to the Student Government for its annual “Stuff-A-Bus” program sponsored by 96.1 Kiss FM to benefit ‘Toys for Tots’.
In addition to the donation of buses for the weeklong event, Monark Student Transportation provided bus drivers to transport the donations to the final toy dropoff on Dec. 2 at Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Monroeville and then to the United States Marines storage facility in the Strip District for unloading.
Monark Student Transportation, along with Pine-Richland High School and the surrounding community, helped fill four full-size school buses with toys for underprivileged children in the Pittsburgh area.

Last year, three-and-a-half busloads were delivered.
Monark school bus drivers alone donated more than $500 toward the purchase of new toys and sporting equipment for the “Stuff-A-Bus” program, as another way to reflect their commitment to community as well as to the children they transport each day.

Dressed as Santa Claus, veteran bus driver Jerry Nikalus led a caravan of toy-filled Monark school buses driven by Tom Gierl, Pat Kulkowski. and Ed Chmelovsky to the “Stuff-A-Bus” dropoff site where they were eagerly greeted by KISS FM Morning Freak Show DJs Mikey and Big Bob along with volunteers and toy donators, including members of the U.S. Marines.
At the end of KISS's weeklong toy drive, 28 full-size school buses were filled to capacity — undoubtedly making hundreds of local children very happy this Christmas!
“Monark Student Transportation is always willing to support the school districts and communities it serves – which is why for the past four years we have been honored to be a part of a project that genuinely benefits needy children in our area”, says Mark D. Schmitt, president and owner of Monark Student Transportation.
”We hope to help ‘stuff’ even more buses next year”!
