Flash Flood Watch Issued for Pine-Richland Area

There also is the threat of damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain.

Meteorologists are watching a storm system that could bring damaging winds, large hail and more than 2 inches of rain to Pine and Richland on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to the weather service, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and increase in coverage by evening. 

The heaviest rainfall will likely take place between 2 a.m. and noon Thursday in Ohio and between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. in western Pennsylvania. 

Flash flooding is most likely in urban area and near smalls streams and creeks. 

Those in particularly vulnerable areas with poor drainage should pay close attention to weather reports through Thursday afternoon. 

A Duquesne Light spokesperson told the Tribune Review that customers should have water, flashlights, batteries and candles on hand, plus a first-aid kit and a supply of prescription medicine.
