Play It Again Sports Celebrates Grand Opening in Pittsburgh This Weekend

PITTSBURGH, PA. (Dec. 8, 2025) – Play It Again Sports®, the leading family sporting goods resale concept, has announced the grand opening of its location in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11, 2025. Located at 4885 McKnight Rd, the brand provides athletes of every age a place to sell their quality used sports and fitness equipment including: football equipment, baseball gloves and bats, hockey gear, golf clubs, soccer gear, lacrosse equipment, treadmills, bikes, weights, and more.

Meet the Local Owners

Play It Again Sports Pittsburgh is locally owned and operated by Nick and Hollie Vitale, a husband-and-wife team with strong ties to the community. With two young children active in local sports and a shared passion for athletics, the Vitales saw an opportunity to make sports more accessible for families in their hometown. The idea began after a conversation about the rising cost of hockey gear and quickly evolved into a mission to create a neighborhood sporting goods store where families can find affordable, high-quality equipment and friendly, knowledgeable service. The new store will employ around 15 local team members and offer both new and gently used gear for every age and skill level, from hockey and baseball to pickleball and martial arts.

“We wanted to build something that feels like part of the neighborhood,” said Hollie Vitale, a lifelong Pittsburgh resident. “This community is hard-working, tight-knit, and passionate about sports just like us, and we’re excited to give families a place that makes playing more accessible and fun for everyone.”

Grand Opening Event Details

Beginning on Dec.11 and throughout the weekend, Play It Again Sports Pittsburgh is inviting guests to stop in to experience the following:

• Thursday, Dec.11: Opening line giveaway: A $25 Play It Again Sports gift card for the first 25 shoppers in line. Cookies and cocoa with Santa from 5 to 6 p.m.
• Friday, Dec.12: The first 25 shoppers in line will receive a Play It Again Sports swag bag filled with branded merchandise. Pittsburgh Thunderbirds players will be on-site for photos and interactive games from 3 to 6 p.m. With each purchase, customers will receive an entry to win two tickets to a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game.
• Saturday, Dec.13: A balloon artist will be in-store creating free balloon designs for families from 5 to 6 p.m. Every purchase gets an entry to win a round of golf for four at Shannopin Country Club. Customers are also welcome to participate in a “hole in one” contest, the winner will receive a $100 gift card.
• Sunday, Dec.14: Double Points Day: Shoppers will earn double points on both buys and sales. The Washington Wild Things’ “Wild Thing” mascot will appear from 2 to 3 p.m. Raffle giveaways throughout the day, including confirmed themed baskets.
