An assistant superintendent continues handling school board meetings while Booth’s case proceeds, with a new court date set for March 3, 2026.
   

• Luzerne County authority approves $20K contract to research rail property (citizensvoice.com) — Luzerne County’s Redevelopment Authority is spending up to $20,000 on a study of its 60-mile Luzerne & Susquehanna rail line running in and around Pittston, Wilkes-Barre and Hanover Township, a key step toward possibly selling the system. The move comes amid a $3.3 million loan dispute with the county and a $10 million purchase offer that includes potential excursion passenger service from Wilkes-Barre to Jim Thorpe.
   

• 2,000 bikes to be distributed to kids in need across Lackawanna and Luzerne counties (wnep.com) — A massive holiday bike giveaway is being staged in a Pittston Township warehouse, where 2,000 bicycles are ready to go to children in need. State Sen. Marty Flynn’s effort will send the bikes through local schools and nonprofits across Luzerne, Lackawanna, and nearby communities.
