Blue Route, I-76 Closures Ahead

State Representative Kate Harper, who represents part of Plymouth Township, noted several local road projects that will impact traffic over the next week, starting on an eastbound right lane closure on the Schuylkill Expressway on Sunday.

Schuylkill Expressway: Weekend/Day
On Sunday, March 24, the eastbound right lane will be closed between the Conshohocken and Gladwyne interchanges in West Conshohocken Borough from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a bridge inspection.

On Monday and Thursday, March 25 and 28, one lane will be closed on eastbound I-76 between I-476 and Route 1 in Lower Merion Township from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a sign inspection. One westbound lane will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Monday through Friday, March 25-29, the eastbound right lane will be closed between the I-476 and Gulph Mills interchanges from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Intelligent Transportation Systems installation.

Blue Route: Overnight
On Monday, March 25, northbound I-476 will be reduced from three lanes to two between the I-76 and Ridge Pike interchanges from 2-5 a.m. for a bridge repair.

Ongoing Traffic Restrictions:

Work has begun on a $1.2 million project to improve drainage and stabilize the slope adjacent to I-76 just east of the Conshohocken Curve in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County. The goal of the project is to stabilize the ground on this wooded slope and improve the drainage channels to reduce the potential for mudslides and flooding on the expressway during heavy rainstorms. Projected end date: April 2013.  

Balligomingo Road is closed and detoured at Route 23 (Front Street) in West Conshohocken for safety improvements at the intersection. Balligomingo Road motorists will reach Route 23 (Front Street) by following I-76 East or Route 320 (Holstein Road/Swedeland Road). Route 23 (Front Street) drivers traveling west will access Balligomingo Road by following I-76 West to the Gulph Mills Interchange, and Route 23 (Front Street) drivers heading east will take Route 320 (Swedeland Road/Holstein Road). Projected end date: May 2013.  

Elm Street Bridge over Plymouth Creek and the Cross County Bicycle Trail in Conshohocken Borough is closed for replacement. Traffic is detoured between Colwell Road and Corson Street. Projected end date: October 2013.  

Joshua Road is closed between Germantown Pike and Ridge Pike in Whitemarsh Township for installation of a new water main by Aqua Pennsylvania. The road is closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, with traffic detoured over Germantown Pike, Butler Pike and Ridge Pike. Expected end date: June 7.
