Boy’s Death Continues to Inspire Through ‘Gavin’s Trust Project’

First Gavin Leong's mother asked her blog readers to do good deeds in his name; now, she is working to help children with special needs in the area.

 

After Gavin Leong died at the age of 5 in April, his mother, – and there was a dramatic response of good deeds from across the country.

Less than one month later, Kate started “Gavin’s Trust Project,” a fundraising vehicle that helps children with special needs to purchase items to help them, such as a multi-level communicator, sensory swings and swing frames, which were on the “wish list” for Gavin’s classroom at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU).

“I created "Gavin's Trust Project" to help support Gavin's friends who receive services from the CCIU,” Kate’s blog states. “I wanted to continue to try to "make the impossible... possible" for kids like Gavin, knowing well how hard it can be to get much needed ‘special needs’ items.”

Just four hours after Kate posted the project on her wall, nearly $6,000 was donated. To contribute to the project, click here to make an online donation or here for more information on sending checks.

“All of your donations, big and small, will be added to Gavin's Trust Project to help therapists and teachers get what they need for children in this program,” Kate said.
