While many local school districts in Montgomery County have been including an “optional” mask-wearing protocol for the upcoming school year in their health and safety plans, county health officials have since offered new guidance for the 2021-2022 school year, and now recommend universal mask-wearing for students indoors regardless of vaccination status.
The Montgomery County Office of Public Health had previously only recommended mask-wearing indoors for those who were unvaccinated, but this recent change came after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control similarly changed its position with regard to who should wear masks.
