Colonial SD Students Win Big at Technology Student Association Competition

PWHS students placed first in three team and four individual events.

The Colonial School District (CSD) dominated the regional Technology Student Association (TSA) competition on February 23 at Strayer Middle School in Quakertown, Pa. CSD had nearly 60 students qualify for the Pennsylvania Technology Student Association competition in April in Champion, Pa.

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) students placed first in three team and four individual events. Dalton Versak and Jeff Verone were on all three first-place teams for PWHS.

They joined Tommy Gerstein, Kathryn Sweeney, Joe McAnulty and Anton Smaliack to win the Biotech event. They also teamed with Sam Horry, Seth Horry and Greg Richards to take top honors in the Engineering Design event. Versak, Verone, Sam Horry, Seth Horry and Richards combined with Jackson Versak won the Manufacturing Prototype event. Nathan Hyer and Woody Fulmer took second place in the Robotics event, while Lina Shi, Maura Getzfried, Christine Vikingstad and Dana Miller placed third in the Webmaster event.

Individually, Seth Horry placed first in Career Preparation, while Shi won both the Desktop Publishing and Promotional Graphics events. Jackson Versak placed first in Technical Sketching and Application. Jared Conner was second in CAD 3D Engineering, while Chris Guarini was third. Seth Horry placed second in Transportation Modeling and Matt McAnulty was second in Pa-Safety Illustration-Computer.

Colonial Middle School students placed first in four team events and one individual event. Sarah Manno and Chris Johnson won the Challenging Technology Issues event, while Michael Renner and Daniella Durante placed first in Structural Engineering. James Phair, Shre'ya Bhutani, Scott Horry, Karen Minecci, Namita Rao and Aidan McEleny teamed to win the Video Game Design event, and Bailey Bower and Emily Koval combined to win Techno Talk. Phair, Scott Horry, Minecci and McEleny teamed with Nick Bowe and Nicole Esposito to place third in Agriculture Biotechnology. Cici Coffee and Alexis Barnett were third in Techno Talk.
