An 80-year-old convicted sex offender is facing a third-degree felony charge for allegedly lying on a background check while attempting to purchase a gun from a Skippack gun shop, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Julius Clark Cuthbertson, of Plymouth Meeting, has been charged with making a materially false written statement after he attempted to purchase a gun at Pete's Gun Shop in Skippack and failed to indicate a prior arrest, according to police.
