Daytime Burglary Reported at Sherry Lake Apartment

More than $1,500 in electronics, jewelry and household items were stolen while the victim was at work; neighbors saw nothing, according to police.

 

A Sherry Lake resident returned home from work on March 14 to find her front door damaged and more than $1,200 in electronics, jewelry and household items missing from her apartment, according to the Whitemarsh Township Police Department.

According to the victim, she left for work at 7 a.m. and when she returned home around 3 p.m., her entry door was damage and unlocked, appearing to have been kicked or pushed in, police said.

Items in the living room and the bedroom were rummaged through, and several items were missing from the living room – a 32-inch flat screen television, a Sony DVD player, several DVDs, a Lumix brand camera and an HP Lap Top computer – the stolen electronics totaled  $1,450.

In the victim’s bedroom, several pieces of jewelry were missing, including an opal cross with a small diamond in the center, an Irish ceramic container with a Trinity sign and a sterling silver heart-shaped box, according to police.

Police spoke with a neighbor who lived across the hall from the victim, who said he was home all day and did not hear or see anything suspicious.

Another Sherry Lake resident told police that a white colored van, with no side or rear windows, was parked in the lot across the street from her apartment in the early afternoon.

The resident said she had not seen the van before in the complex, and that she did not see the occupant of the vehicle or get a registration plate number.
