District Judge Race In Plymouth Township Finally Ends With Democrat Beating Incumbent GOP

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — In one of the final local election races to be called following a recount, a Democratic challenger has ousted the Republican incumbent in a magisterial district judge contest in Plymouth Township.

Jodi Lukens Griffis, 41, has won the local judicial race, according to official results from Montgomery County.

The final tally showed Griffis winning the seat with a total of 3,081 votes to Bernhardt's 3,012 votes.

All votes have now been counted in the county's elections and the tally is final.

The magisterial district court Griffis will be heading covers Plymouth Township and the west side of Conshohocken Borough. It is District Court 38-1-13.

Griffis, who is married with two sons, has been a licensed attorney for 15 years.

The race was one of the last to be certified by the Montgomery County Election Board early this week, according to a report in the Reporter newspaper of Lansdale.

Bernhardt, 63, had been a district judge since 2001, according to a profile in Patch.

He is a former Plymouth Township Council member who has also been a licensed attorney for 35 years.
