How Safe Are Einstein, Suburban Hospitals? New Patient Safety Grades Released

How safe is your local hospital, and how does it compare to others in the region?

EAST NORRITON, PA — The latest ranking of hospital safety scores has been released, featuring numerous healthcare facilities in the greater Norristown area and shedding an updated light on what patients can expect.

The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grades are a biannual ranking that assigns a “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” to all general hospitals in the United States based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and Suburban Community Hospital, both in East Norriton, received the top "A" grade.

Suburban scored in the highest range on handling urinary infections, surgery on dangerous objects left in the patient’s body, limiting patient falls, limiting air and gas bubbles in the blood, handwashing, safe medication administration, nursing and bedside care, and ICU-specific doctors and nurses.

Einstein, meanwhile, did best on handling sepsis, kidney injuries after surgery, breathing problems, preventing falls, safe medication administration, collapsed lungs, air and gas bubbles in the blood, and nursing and bedside care.

Nearby, Roxborough Hospital scored an 'A' as well. Jefferson Lansdale received a 'B,' Phoenixville Hospital a 'C,' and Temple Health Chestnut Hill a 'D.'

According to the safety grades, no Pennsylvania hospitals received an 'F' grade but 9 hospitals in the state received a 'D'. Thirty-four hospitals got a 'C'.
