Jewelry Stolen From Hill at Whitemarsh Residents, Police Say

An 81-year-old resident had over $11,000 in jewelry stolen from her home.

Whitemarsh Township Police (WPD) are investigating multiple thefts at The Hill at Whitemarsh retirement community, including $11,500 in jewelry stolen from an 81-year-old woman.

The victim, of Marble Hill within the Lafayette Hill retirement community, reported to police on May 9 that a gold bracelet with diamonds and sapphires, a gold braided bracelet, a gold slide necklace and a wedding ring with ten diamonds went missing over the past year, police said.

The victim said the bracelets and necklace went missing first, and she thought she may have misplaced them; when her wedding ring also went missing, she contact police, according to a report from the WPD.

Only the cleaning staff provided by the Hill at Whitemarsh has access to the home, according to the woman, who also said that her neighbor also had jewelry missing, police said.

The WPD reported that it is investigating "cases of similar thefts from the Hill at Whitemarsh.
