Local Restaurants Enter ‘Battle of the Burger’

Five local restaurants are competing in Philadelphia Magazine’s “Battle of the Burger,” and customers are asked to vote online to pick a favorite.

A number of burgers from restaurants in Philadelphia and its suburbs were listed on the magazine’s website on Friday, and readers are asked to pick 50 finalists, which will be announced July 6.

Here is a look at some local entrants:

Baggataway Tavern’s Blue Cheese and Onion Burger (West Conshohocken)

Fresh ground beef, Glenview Farms Bleu Cheese, sautéed onions on a toasted country bun from Le Bus bakery

The Broad Axe Tavern‘s Axe Burger

Chopped sirloin, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, bacon, chipotle, salt, pepper. Jalapeno jack cheese, avocado, pico de gallo, on a brioche roll

Lucky Dog Saloon and Grille’s Samson Burger

10 ounces Angus ground beef, Andouille sausage, onion rings, smoked Gouda sauce, on a brioche bun.

MaGerk’s Pub & Grill’s MaGerk’s Patty Melt

A burger topped with cooked salami, white American cheese, Russian dressing, tomato and fried onions

Southern Cross Kitchen’s Southern Burger

Andouille sausage, pecan, and ground beef. Toppings - Gruyere cheese, fried pickles, crispy bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, spicy sriracha dijonnaise

As of 2 p.m. Friday, Broad Axe and Baggatway Taverns were leading the local lot in the Top 15.
