More than 20 Years of Trees at Harmonville Fire Co.

The proceeds will benefit the all-volunteer fire company.

Harmonville Fire Company’s annual Christmas tree sale at its Germantown Pike branch in Plymouth Meeting has kicked off the 2013 holiday season with three kinds of fresh, Pennsylvania-grown trees, whose proceeds will benefit this all-volunteer fire company.

According to Dave McGuigan, company Vice President and co-chairman of the Christmas tree sales, Harmonville has held its Christmas tree event for over 20 years and will also offer wreaths and sprigs made in-house. They have tree stands as well.

Tree-shoppers can choose from Pennsylvania-grown Douglas firs, Fraser firs and the Blue Spruce, which were cut fresh a few days ago and arrived yesterday. Trees are $35 and up.

The tree sale will be held Monday through Friday from 3-9 p.m., on Saturday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. The sale will go on until the trees are sold out.

“It’s a great time,” McGuigan said of their Christmas tree sale, which is also one of their biggest fundraisers.

“We’re an all-volunteer fire company, and all proceeds go to the members for getting new equipment because everything is more technologically-advanced now,” he said.

Harmonville is also participating in a toy drop-off, where visitors can drop off a new, unwrapped toy that the firefighters will take to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, along with the other donated toys, around Dec. 7.

The tree sale is held at the Harmonville Fire Co. No. 1’s Station 44-b, located at 904 Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting.
