Patients Defend Lafayette Hill’s Alleged ‘Dr. Feel Good’
More than a dozen patients have come to the defense of Michael B. Rosen, who was charged with allegedly prescribing narcotics to drug-dependent patients.

After Patch broke the story of Lafayette Hill doctor Michael B. Rosen’s arrest for allegedly prescribing narcotics to patients he knew were addicted last week, some of his patients have been vocal in their support of the doctor.
Rosen was charged on April 4 with three counts each of prescribing a controlled substance to a patient known to be drug dependent, and prescribing a controlled substance not in accordance with treatment principles, according to an affidavit.
“Rosen continued to treat and write narcotic prescriptions to three patients after knowing they were drug dependent on the very drugs he was prescribing,” according to the affidavit of probable cause, filed by the Whitemarsh Township with the office of District Justice Deborah Lukens.

Several patients have spoken out about the charges on Patch, many praising the care that Rosen has given them over the years from Lafayette Hill Family Medicine on Germantown Pike.
Several commenters said they were long-term patients of Rosen, and he guided them well through difficult health situations.

“Dr. Rosen has been treating me for 10 years and has guided me through some major situations such as open heart surgery and diabetes,” said Luther Van Ummersen. “Dr. Rosen is a wonderful doctor and a wonderful person. I trust him completely.”
“My husband and I Emmanuel Utti have been patients of Dr. Rosen for over twenty years,” said Claudie Utti. “He has seen us through surgeries, illness and he had been there through the death of both of our sons who also were his patients. He has a heart of gold and is a excellent physician.”
Others said Rosen has gone beyond the call of duty as a doctor, and they will continue to see him as a doctor.
“Dr. Rosen is a wonderful, compassionate doctor who has been taken care of me and my wife since we moved to Lafayette Hill,” said Charles Melough. “My wife had a severe case of shingles last spring which lasted for many months. Dr. Rosen called her every Monday evening to see how she was feeling. We will continue to go to Dr. Rosen in the future!!!”
Many patients said that his “trusting, caring and compassionate” ways allowed him to fall victim to the “addicts” who “manipulated him.”
“No one ever called him ‘the feel good doctor’ except the idiot patient who said that because he was abusing the meds,” Cara Smith said.
