Plymouth Fire Co. Extinguishes Vehicle Blaze on Blue Route Wed.

Firefighters with the Plymouth Fire Co. say they put out a vehicle fire following an accident Wednesday along mile marker 18.3 on I-476.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — Local firefighters extinguished a vehicle blaze on Wednesday following a car accident along the Blue Route in Montgomery County.

Just before 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, volunteers and career firefighters with the Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 responded to mile marker 18.3. southbound on Interstate 476 in the area of Plymouth Meeting for a call of a vehicle fire, according to information from the fire company.

Crews working with Engine 43 were able to extinguish the blaze within about 10 minutes, the fire company posted on its website and on social media.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered a vehicle on fire, with the flames fully engulfing the engine bay under the hood and moving into the passenger compartment of the vehicle, according to the fire department’s report.

Emergency officials say there were no injuries to the parties involved in the accident or any first responders.

The accident scene was turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police since they have law enforcement jurisdiction over area highways.

Photos posted online by the fire department show what appears to be a white SUV crossover type vehicle with extensive fire damage over the entire front of the vehicle.
