Police Activity Near PWHS Caused by Truck Inspections

Several police cars were near the school on Thursday afternoon.

Police activity across from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School on Germantown Pike on Thursday was due to a motor carrier truck inspection detail, according to Whitemarsh Police Chief Michael Beaty.

A Patch reader questioned the activity around 1 p.m., when "multiple marked and unmarked police cars" were parked across the street.

According to Beaty, traffic safety officers from the area get together to conduct inspections of commercial vehicles for dangerous violations, and to verify compliance with trucking regulations. Across from the high school was the "widest area to do it safely," Beaty said.

Beaty also said that there was a fire alarm at the school when a tech was working on the fire alarm system, so there was additional emergency services activity in the area then.
