Police Brief: 97-Year-Old Man Receives Fraudulent Check in the Mail

Whitemarsh Police said a 97-year-old Hallowell Street resdient received a fraudulent letter and check in the mail on Dec. 2. 

The letter included a check written out to him in the amount of $822 from the company Trustnet. The letter said that the resident had won $8,222 and that to claim his prize the resident must deposit the check and send Trustnet $520. 

The resident did not respond to the fraudulent letter, and no money was taken, police said.
