PW’s Jaylen Bond Leaving Longhorns for Temple

The 2011 Plymouth Whitemarsh graduate will sit out a season, per NCAA rules.

 

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School graduate Jaylen Bond was released from the University of Texas Longhorns earlier this year, and decided Friday to transfer to Temple, according to Philly.com.

Bond graduated from the Colonial School District in 2011, and backed out of a scholarship to Pittsburgh, opting for the Longhorn basketball program.

“I learned a lot about life and basketball at Texas, and I'm thankful for that but there's no place like home,” Bond said on Twitter.

Bond averaged 2.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 11 minutes of playing time at Texas.

Bond, a 6-foot-7-inch forward, will sit out next season, but he can practice with the team. He will then spend two years as an Owl.

“Ain't nothing like playing for your city every game,” Bond tweeted. “Can't wait to put on that Temple uniform...”
