PWHS Postpones Graduation Due to Weather

Breaking from tradition, commencement will not be moved to Colonial Elementary School Thursday.

The Colonial School District (CSD) announced that Plymouth Whitemarsh High School graduation ceremony, scheduled for Thursday evening, is postponed to Friday at 5:30 p.m. due to inclement weather.

"In the event of rain, Colonial School District usually moves the ceremony from Colonial Field to the Colonial Elementary School," said CSD Superintendent MaryEllen Gorodetzer in a letter to parents and guardians.  "This year, however, the weather forecasts indicate severe thunderstorms, hail, flooding, damaging wind and potential power outages."

Gorodetzer said the safety of students and families is the district's primary concern, and that the local police departments and meteorologists support the decision, considering the magnitude and severity of the storm.

"We know that this may create an inconvenience for some of our families who have visitors traveling from out of town; however, we cannot risk the safety of our students and their families," Gorodetzer said, thanking families in advance for their understanding.
