PLYMOUTH-WHITEMARSH, PA — Drinkers in the Plymouth-Whitemarsh area spent tens of millions on alcohol in 2024, according to state statistics.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's annual report features sale figures for individual Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores across the state.

Here's how Plymouth and Whitemarsh area stores stacked up compared to the rest of the state:

  • 11th overall, 1440 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, $13,635,950
  • 12th, Metroplex Mall, 2426 Chemical Road, Plymouth Meeting, $13,122,645
  • 187th, 132 East Butler Avenue, Ambler, $5,242,675
  • 218th, Top of the Hill Plaza, 8705 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia, $4,695,735

Montgomery County, the third largest county in Pennsylvania, also had the third largest amount of sales, at $246,792,109. That's a 1.6 percent decrease from the year before, reflecting larger trends of economic crises, inflation, and younger generations drinking significantly less than they once did.
