Social Media Threat Had Named Montgomery County High School
The since-deleted Instagram post reportedly targeted Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. Police are looking into the matter.
PLYMOUTH-WHITEMARSH, PA — Local police are investigating an incident of a social media threat that reportedly named a local high school.
Law enforcement in Whitemarsh Township are looking into a reported threat that local school officials were made aware of earlier this week on the social media platform Instagram.
Administrators in the Colonial School District said officials were made aware of the post, which they said was "of a concerning nature," without elaborating.

The revelation was contained in a correspondence to families who have children at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.
"Because the post referenced a threat to Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, we immediately contacted the police," reads an email that was sent to parents and guardians, and which was posted to social media. "Law enforcement is currently investigating the situation. We appreciate the Whitemarsh Police Department's quick response. The administration attempted to access the social media account, but it has since been deleted."

The exact nature of the threat was not divulged.
School administrators said that security personnel will be visible at the high school, as per regular practice.
"We thank the individual who brought this to our attention," the email reads. "We will communicate with you as soon as possible as we receive additional information."
School continued as normal this week after the news about the threat was revealed, "with a heightened sense of vigilance," the email said.
