Street Racers Swarm, Block Plymouth Twp. Intersection: Police

A huge group of vehicles and people on foot blocked the major intersection, shooting off fireworks and speeding in circles, officials said.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — Police are investigating after they said dozens of vehicles and individuals swarmed a busy intersection in Plymouth Township over the weekend, shooting off fireworks, street racing, and blocking traffic.

No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 15 at around 8:03 p.m. near the intersection of Ridge Pike, Chemical Road, and North Lane.

Pedestrians arrived and began "circling" the intersection, while some vehicles blocked traffic and others sped and spun uncontrollably around the area with passengers hanging out the windows, officials said.

All vehicles and pedestrians fled the area when police arrived.

Police said they've identified "vehicles of interest" were identified by police, but authorities said they have not yet reached anyone involved.

"Detectives are reviewing surveillance images from in and around the area and are working with local, state and regional law enforcement partners to identify the participants in this car meet-up," police said in a statement.
