Thefts, Terroristic Threats Reported in Whitemarsh

Retail and residential thefts were reported.

 

Razor Theft from Giant Grocery Store

The Whitemarsh Police Department responded to a call of retail theft from the Giant Grocery Store on Ridge Pike just after 6 p.m. on Feb. 11.

According to police, an unknown black male wearing blue jeans and a green jacket walked into the Giant, took a blue promotional bag from the store, filled it with $530 worth of Gillette Fusion Razors, and then exited through the produce department door.

A Giant employee believes that the man came and left on a SEPTA bus.

Theft Reported from Hector Street Home

A theft was reported on the 1000 block of Hector Street, in which a wedding band, diamond ring and DeWalt drill went missing.

The victim reported the thefts on Feb. 15 just after 6 p.m., telling police that the items went missing over a one-week period, and that a caregiver to the victim’s mother is the only non-family member in the house, police said.

The victim said that he is looking at local pawn shops from the wedding band, which would be inscribed with “SJP-AMCS 5-13-50”

Terroristic Threats Reported at American Independent Insurance

Whitemarsh Township Police officers were dispatched to 1000 River Road on Feb 14 around 3:30 p.m. for a possible bomb threat, based on a conversation that the office’s receptionist had with an angry customer, police said.

According to the receptionist, the female customer allegedly threatened several times to blow the building up, police said.

Officers called what they believed to be the incoming number of the individual who made the threats and they spoke with a male, Jayah Kamara, who said that he did call the American Independent Insurance office, but never spoke with anyone and would be willing to assist with the situation, police said.

According to police, all of Kamara’s information checked out, and they are continuing to investigate this incident.
