"Andrew is a compassionate police officer who values the tenets of community policing, and is committed to our mission of effecting a culture of inclusion, engaging in shared dialogue, and shaping lasting communal alliances," Myrsiades said in a written statement to Patch.
Adams was first hired by Plymouth Township Police back in 1998, where he started out as a patrol officer. Since that time, he has served as a Special Operations Team member for 17 years, holding the position of Element Leader, and he was an Officer in Charge for 15 years, where he supervised a patrol squad in the absence of a sergeant, according to a bio provided by Myrsiades.

Adams also served as a K9 officer for 8 years, where he patrolled alongside his four-legged partner, Brix. He has also worked as a Field Training Officer to newly hired police, as a firearms and 'less lethal' instructor, and as a member of the Montgomery County Narcotics Task Force.
A township newsletter from 2018 shows that Adams was among three members of the local police department who were recognized for completing 20 years of service back in September of that year. The township council had provided Adams and the others with plaques for the “outstanding service each of them has provided to the citizens of Plymouth Township,” the newsletter states.
Three years later, Adams again found himself in front of local officials, being honored as he took the reins as sergeant.
Myrsiades stated in his comments that he was honored to announce this longtime officer's recent promotion.
"I am excited to add a veteran officer with such wide-ranging experiences to our supervisory staff," the chief wrote.
