PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in this eastern Montgomery County community are searching for a city man they say stabbed another person during an altercation this weekend at a local convenience store.

The Plymouth Township Police Department said its officers were alerted to an incident at the Wawa at 1300 East Ridge Pike on Saturday morning at around 8:49 a.m. in which a reported stabbing occurred following a fight between two people.

A subsequent investigation revealed that a man was stabbed multiple times in the arm, back and chest, police said.

The victim, whose age and other descriptive information was not revealed, was taken to Paoli Hospital in Chester County and was last listed in stable condition. His injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

The department said it is currently looking for suspect Ivan Davonte Stephens, Jr., 29, of Philadelphia, in connection with the stabbing.

Police allege that Stephens is the one who did the stabbing, and then fled the area before police could arrive at the scene.

It was unclear how Stephens was developed as a suspect, and police said they would not comment on the case beyond what was included in a press release issued by officials following the incident.

Plymouth Township Police urge anyone with information about this incident, or about the whereabouts of the suspect, to call 610-279-1901.

Police are charging Stephens with felony counts of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of possessing an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.

It was also unclear why Upper Merion Township Police alerted Plymouth Township Police about the incident, however, the two municipalities do border each other.
