Whitemarsh PD Swears In New Officer

Emily Hopkins, of Northeast Philadelphia, was sworn in Thursday night.

 

The Whitmemarsh Police Department is back to budgeted strength with the April 25 swearing in of Officer Emily Hopkins.

Magisterial District Justice Deborah Lukens swore in Hopkins, who graduated from Kutztown University in 2009 and the Montgomery County Community College Police Academy in 2011.

Hopkins went through a long testing process, including a cored application review, physical agility test, an oral interview before a panel of police sergeants, and an extensive background investigation to fill the vacant position, which the board of supervisors voted to approve in February.

Hopkins’s brother is Lower Providence Township Police Sergeant William Hopkins.

“On behalf of the Whitemarsh Township Police Department and Board of Supervisors, I would like to congratulate Emily for her accomplishments and I wish her well in her career with the township,” said Whitemarsh Township Police Chief Michael Beaty.
