Whitemarsh Township Authority Celebrates New Office Opening

The Whitemarsh Township Authority had a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of its new, state-of-the-art administrative offices.

WHITEMARSH, PA — The Whitemarsh Township Authority celebrated the opening of its new office headquarters Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new administrative office.

“Today we are proud to open our brand-new standalone building,” Whitemarsh Township Authority Chairman Timothy Ferris said, according to a news release of the event made available to local media. “Our staff looks forward to providing a full-service customer experience without any space or parking limitations.”

According to the press release, the sewer authority has been around for more than 50 years, but it didn’t formally separate from the township as its own unit until 2014. After the separation, the authority rented office space in the township for its headquarters, but it had finished its lease in late June after the new office space was done being constructed.

Ferris stated that the goal has always been for the authority to have its own office space.

The building, described as state-of-the-art, has rooftop solar panels, as well as two electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lot.

Kyle Detweiler, the finance director at the authority, said he anticipates seeing immediate cost savings on utility bills due to the renewable energy upgrades and energy efficiency measures at the new office space, according to the news release.

McCarthy Construction Inc., headquartered in Delaware County, was the general contractor on the project and Matthew Price of Period Architecture in Bucks County served as the project’s design architect, the release states.

The project’s $2 million cost was paid for with capital reserve money from the authority and the authority’s 6,000-plus residential and commercial customers in Whitemarsh, Plymouth, Springfield, Whitpain, Ambler and Conshohocken are not expected to see a rate increase because of the new office project, according to the news release.

The building, projected to serve the Whitemarsh Township Authority for the next 50 to 100 years, will be home to two-full time administrative employees.

The office is located at 2015 Joshua Road in the Lafayette Hill section of Whitemarsh Township.
