Woman Kills Record Number of Spotted Lantern Flies in Montgomery Co.
A retired Plymouth Meeting woman is said to have amassed 13,000-plus confirmed kills of the dreaded spotted lantern flies.
PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA — A local retiree is said to have amassed a kill list of about 13,000 for those pesky spotted lantern flies that have invaded the region in recent years.
Harriett Campbell, of Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County, was recently highlighted in a Spotlight PA story about her having filled five-gallon buckets with the dead spotted lantern flies, which she would kill with her trusty flyswatter.
The Spotlight PA story talks about how folks were using the Squishr app to keep track of kills, and of how a decline in the spotted lantern fly population locally has led to less app usage by local folks in recent time.
