"Verizon made a business decision to shift their current focus to honoring their deployment commitments and building on the popularity of their product by winning FiOS TV customers in areas where they currently have cable franchises.

In areas where Verizon  hasn’t started building or have only begun to build their all-fiber network, Verizon chose to take a pause in franchise negotiations and re-evaluate their next steps.

The Borough has been very cooperative with Verizon in our work to (bring) FiOS to Pottstown. Ultimately, Verizon made the business decision to focus their efforts on existing franchise agreements. The Borough did not vote against a franchise agreement and was actually very close to signing one when Verizon made their decision.

When Verizon is ready to re-open talks about a franchise agreement, the Borough will be cooperative and work with them because we know our residents want FiOS in Pottstown."
