Expectations for the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2020–21 Season

Peter Bubel shares a few expectations of the Philadelphia Eagles' 2020-21 season.

The Philadelphia Eagles were able to take advantage of a weak NFC East last year. In this year, the expectations will be higher especially with an upgraded cast for the 2020–2021 season. Without further ado, we will layout some predictions for the Eagles for the upcoming season.
Last year, the Eagles didn’t really have a reliable wide-receiver last season. Their top leading wide-receiver was Alshon Jeffrey with 43 receptions. Some fans may be a bit surprised by who we think maybe the leading wide receiver for the Eagles in terms of receptions. It is no secret that Greg Ward came on down the stretch at the end of last season. One could say he was the most consistent wide receiver for the Eagles towards the end of last year. He had 31 receptions in the last seven games of the season.

He became a reliable target for Carson Wentz during that period and is a good option in the slot. It’s clear that he poised to build on his totals in 2020–2021. We believe that Greg Ward will be the leading WR for the Eagles next season.

Over the past few years, the Philadelphia Eagles have not had a go-to running back. It was essentially running back by committee over the last three years. In the upcoming season, we feel that Miles Sanders will break out of the pack and become the go-to-guy. Sanders emerged halfway through the end of the season.

Expect Miles Sanders to have around 1600 total yards this season. It’s expected that Sanders will have about 1000 rushing yards and 600 passing yards.

The Eagles certainly upgraded at the cornerback position by trading for Darius Slay in the offseason. It has been a while since the Eagles have had a cornerback with at least 5 interceptions. We are predicting that Darius Slay will be the guy to break that plateau. He will have at least six interceptions.

Finally, Carson Wentz can be expected to have a better season than last year. In spite of the lack of weapons at his disposal, he threw for 27 touchdowns. Due to the fact that he’s working with an improved offense, we believe that he will throw for 40 touchdowns this season.
