‘Issues & Insights’ To Commemorate Historic Anniversaries

POTTSTOWN - Montgomery County Community College will commemorate three historic anniversaries during the fall installment of the interview/talk show program “Issues and Insights.” 

The programs will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sept. 14, 21 and 28 in Science Center 213, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.

The programs will be simulcast to the College’s West Campus in South Hall 216, 101 College Drive, Pottstown.

The programs are free and open to the public. 

On Sept. 14, the program, “September 11, 2001 Remembered,” will feature four speakers: College President Dr. Karen A. Stout, Assistant Professor of English Dr. Peter Scheponik, Central Campus Student Government Association President Christine Chiodo, and Professor of History and Political Science and host of “Issues & Insights” Dr. Thomas Kolsky. 

On Sept. 21, the program, “Civil War Sesquicentennial,” highlights the events of the four-year war, which started 150 years ago in 1861.

The speakers will be Dr. Jeffrey Prushankin, who is an author, visiting assistant professor of the Civil War Era Studies at Millersville University and MCCC adjunct instructor of History; and Dr. Catherine Parzynski, who is also an author and MCCC instructor of History. 

On Sept. 28, speakers Rev. Marek Zabriskie,rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Ft. Washington, and Dr. Catherine Carsley, author and MCCC assistant professor of English, will discuss the “King James Bible at 400.” 

“Issues and Insights” is designed to contribute to expanding awareness of major issues of public interest.
