Over 50 students from Lincoln Elementary School accompanied by over 100 family members and teachers joined in a walk to Rita’s Ice to celebrate the I’MPACT award winners for the school year (I’MPACT stands for I’m Pottstown Action Team).

Every marking period, teachers select exemplary students from their classroom who have exhibited Lincoln’s Bee-Keeper expectations on a consistent basis.  These expectations include:  being respectful, responsible, safe, and cooperative.

The walk to Rita’s Ice was chosen as a reward to be able to provide an opportunity to showcase student achievement to the community.

Lincoln teacher assistant Kris Stevenson coordinated the day’s events.  The Charlotte Street’s Rita’s Ice supplied discounted water ice treats and the use of their facility to hold the event.  The Pottstown Police Department arranged for crossing guards to assist in students and staff safely crossing busier streets.

Lincoln Principal Mrs. Lori Hoch noted, “Today’s events were done successfully through the teamwork efforts of Rita’s, Lincoln School staff, Pottstown Police Department, students, and families.  This is another example of community partnerships building better neighborhoods.  Today makes me want to say ‘proud to be from Pottstown’.”

Knowing that everyone enjoys a good Rita’s Ice treat, given the sunny skies, and 85 degree temperature, the treats were appreciated even more than normal.
