Two Philly Men Wanted For Montco Killing Arrested By U.S. Marshals In North Carolina

Samir Bentley, 20, and Ahmed Mohammed, 16, of Philadelphia, are being charged in connection with the killing of Robert Stiles in Pottstown.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Two Philadelphia men who were being sought for gunning down a man in Pottstown during a street robbery have been arrested and are now in police custody to face charges in connection with the killing.

Samir Bentley, 20, and Ahmed Mohammed, 16, both of Philadelphia, were taken into custody recently in North Carolina by United States Marshals, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

The two defendants were captured without incident on Thursday in Greenville, North Carolina.

The arrests relate to the Oct. 23, 2021, killing of Robert Stiles, who was found by police officers lying on the ground and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to prosecutors.

The killing was caught on multiple surveillance videos and showed Stiles being robbed at the time of his death.

Videos show Mohammed grabbing Stiles and pulling him into an area in front of 429 East High Street in Pottstown, after which Bentley and Daijon Harrison (who is currently in police custody) approach, according to the D.A.'s Office.

Harrison then pulls a gun from his waistband and hands it to Bentley, who proceeds to shoot Stiles three times, according to prosecutors.

The three men are then seen running to a dark-colored minivan. Meanwhile, Stiles can be seen discarding a clear plastic bag that was later determined to contain multiple ounces of marijuana, the D.A.'s Office stated.

"These two defendants went looking for the victim and when they found him, they shot him dead, using a firearm that neither man was legally allowed to possess," Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a statement. "It's a chilling murder."

Bentley and Mohammed are both being charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, third-degree murder, conspiracy, robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing an instrument of crime and related offenses.

U.S. Marshals are in the process of extraditing both defendants back to Pennsylvania.
