Pottstown Man Stole 'Significant' Amount Of Tobacco In NJ Burglary: Police
Authorities said he used a small sledgehammer to smash open a gas station convenience store overnight.
POTTSTOWN, PA — A Montgomery County. man has been charged after a burglary at a gas station in New Jersey earlier this year.
Chad J. Hefter, 42, of Pottstown faces numerous charges.
The incident occurred during the overnight hours of March 24 at the Shell Gas station in Milford, in Hunterdon County.

Hefter was caught on security footage breaking the front glass with a small sledgehammer before stealing a "significant" amount of tobacco and cash, police said.
He then fled the scene.

Police said a comprehensive investigation led them to Hefter, who was also wanted for a separate burglary incident in Chester County.
He was booked at Chester County Prison. He faces up to 18 months in prison and a fine of $10,000 if convicted.
A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
