Pottstown Native Named Student Ambassador at Alvernia University
Jessica Weiss, an Owen J. Roberts grad, will serve as ambassador.

Jessica Weiss, of Pottstown, Pa., has been named a Student Ambassador at Alvernia University for the 2012-13 academic year, according to Alvernia media contact Carey Manzolillo. Weiss is a Nursing major at Alvernia and a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School.
"The Student Ambassadors Program was founded to educate prospective students and their parents about Alvernia University, from both the academic and social perspectives," said Manzolilo. "Student Ambassadors actively participate in campus events, generate student involvement, and serve as a network for other activities and organizations on campus. The program is highly competitive, and requires interested students to submit an essay, two letters of recommendation, and complete professional interviews."
According to the release, Alvernia is "a fast-growing Franciscan university, grounded in the Catholic and liberal arts traditions, that combines diverse academic opportunities with personal attention and an unmatched commitment to community service."

The school is situated on "a scenic 121-acre suburban campus in historic Berks County, Pa."
