Pottstown Plays Ball

Pottstown's little league baseball season recently got off to a healthy start with roughly 500 folks at an opening day ceremony. 

Joe Campbell is president of , which was founded in 1980 and includes players from Pee-Wee to high school competition levels. 

High school students and adults volunteer to coach, run the concession stand and help with field maintenance, Campbell said. 

"We're here to teach them ... to have fun," he said of coaching players. "It's great to see kids away from electronics."

The league hopes to participate in area events and "bring back a sense of community," he said.
