The Dean's List recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 3.50 and above for the semester.

• ALFRED, NY - Olivia Brum, a resident of Pottstown, PA, was named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester at Alfred University. Brum is a junior in the School of Art and Design. Students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average to qualify for Dean's List.
Brum is a Art and Design major at Alfred University, which is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top regional universities in the North. In its "America's Best Colleges" guide, the magazine rates Alfred University as "a great school at a great price," ranking it as the number one best value in the Northeast among institutions that offer bachelor's and master's degrees.
A graduate of Owen J Roberts High School, Brum is the daughter of Jeffery and Jennifer Brum.
Alfred University offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees through its Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Business, as well as through its Schools of Engineering and Art and Design.
• GRANTHAM, PA - The following local students were among the 642 students to graduate from Messiah College on May 12 during the College's annual commencement.
Pottstown resident Michelle Bennett. Bennett graduated magna cum laude with a degree in history with social studies certification.
Pottstown resident Derek Black. Black graduated with a degree in sociology and anthropology.
Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate and graduate students. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.
• SCRANTON - Joseph M. Nagy of Pottstown was among the nearly 900 University of Scranton students earning a bachelor's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre.
Nagymajored in finance in the Jesuit university's Kania School of Management.
Graduates included recipients of some of the nation's most prestigious scholarships, including the Truman Scholarship, the Goldwater Scholarship and two Fulbright scholarships. Graduates represented 15 states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. Majors with the most graduates in 2012 are nursing, communication, biology, accounting, exercise science, and counseling and human services.
Sister Patricia Eck, C.B.S., congregation leader of the Sisters of Bon Secours and chairperson of Bon Secours, Inc./Bon Secours Ministries Board of Directors, served as the principal speaker at The University of Scranton's 2012 undergraduate commencement. She also received an honorary degree from the University.
"What a great day it is to graduate – Pentecost," said Sr. Eck to the nearly 9,000 in attendance at the undergraduate ceremony. "As you go into the world, you have God's assurance that the Spirit is with you. If you remember nothing from this day, and this is a good possibility, remember that God's Spirit is always with you. No matter what, God's Spirit is always with you."
In addition to the remarks by Sr. Eck, University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., addressed the graduates and their guests. This was Father Quinn's first undergraduate commencement ceremony as president of the University.
"You were challenged to make Ignatius' charge, to love and serve in all things, your own," Father Quinn said. "This is the value-added of a Scranton education, and for this we and the faculty are rightly proud. Remember, you are sons and daughters of The University of Scranton forever."
• YORK - Danielle Tague of Stowe, PA, graduated from York College of Pennsylvania on May 19. Tague earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Chemistry.
Located in southcentral Pennsylvania, York College offers more than 50 baccalaureate majors in professional programs, the sciences and humanities to its 4,600 undergraduate students. The College also offers master's programs in business, education and nursing. • ANNVILLE - Over 430 students recently graduated from Lebanon Valley College. Commencement ceremonies, held on the beautiful Academic Quad, included an address by Dr. Catherine Romagnolo, associate professor of English and winner of the 2011 Thomas Rhys Vickroy Award for teaching.
Romagnolo wondered what the first graduating class at LVC, the class of 1870, would have been thinking as they prepared to move on from college, and offered this advice: "Never underestimate the power of words, use your words to make change, circulate a discourse of kindness and acceptance, and your world will be an accepting and kind place to live. 'Put an alternative discourse into circulation.'"

Melissa D. Bianchini of Stowe, Pa. Bianchini earned a doctoral degree in physical therapy. Bianchini is a graduate of Pottsgrove High School.
Amanda L. Jenkins of Pottstown, Pa. Jenkins earned a bachelor of science degree in biology. Jenkins graduated Cum Laude and was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. Jenkins is a graduate of Owen J Roberts High School.
Michael C. Nesbitt of Pottstown, Pa. Nesbitt earned a bachelor of science degree in actuarial science. Nesbitt is a graduate of Owen J Roberts High School.
Eryn L. Schultz of Pottstown, Pa. Schultz earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology. Schultz is a graduate of Pottsgrove High School.
Lebanon Valley Colleg in Annville, Pa., welcomes 1,630 full-time undergraduates studying more than 30 majors, as well as self-designed majors. Founded in 1866, LVC has graduate programs in physical therapy, business, and music and science education. Annville is 15 minutes east of Hershey and 35 minutes east of Harrisburg; Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore are within two hours.
