She also produces and hosts a variety of informational television shows including  on which she interviews medical professionals who discuss subjects such as Alzheimer's, diabetes and dementia.

"It surprised me very much," Liott said of the award. "It's a privilege to be able to accept such an honor ... I'm overwhelmed."

She said she met Lee at the local YWCA in the 1980's.

"I taught teens about nutrition," Liott said. "I met (Lee) there."

Liott described Lee as "a lovely" woman.

"She did so much ... She was just so sweet and so kind," Liott said of Lee. "She was very helpful."

This is Liott's second Sally Lee award. In 2006, she was given the YWCA's Sally Lee Lifetime Achievement award.

"I was really overwhelmed about the nomination. I felt very honored," Liott said at that time. "It was very unexpected to be recognized for such a wonderful recognition, especially by such a prestigious group of professionals."

Liott will be presented the Sally Lee Community Service Award on June 13 at the 2012 Champions for Impact Awards Celebration.

At the event, which will be held at the Ballroom at the Ben in Philadelphia from 5 to 7 p.m., the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania will recognize individuals and companies whose work allowed the organization to make a lasting impact throughout the region.
