$148K Awarded To First Responders In Chesco and Delco

Seven fire and emergency medical providers in Chester and Delaware counties received state grants, state Rep. Melissa Shusterman announced.

HARRISBURG, PA – Seven fire companies and emergency service providers in Chester and Delaware counties were awarded a total of $148,208 in state grants for facility upgrades, equipment, education, and recruitment.

“These grants are a testament to our continued support of our first responders,” said Shusterman, a Democrat representing Tredyffrin, Easttown, Schuylkill and Willistown townships.

Shusterman thanked Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration for the funding, noting the emergency services providers keep the communities safer.

These grants were provided by Pennsylvania’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services:

  • Paoli Fire Co. - $14,808 for fire services and $10,000 for EMS
  • Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. - $15,000 for fire services and $10,000 for EMS.
  • Malvern Fire Co. - $10,000 for EMS.
  • Radnor Fire Co. of Wayne - $15,000 for fire services and $10,000 for EMS.
  • Newtown Square Fire Co. No. 1 - $15,000 for fire services.
  • Berwyn Fire Co. & Ambulance - $15,000 for fire services and $8,400 for EMS.
  • Goshen Fire Co. - $15,000 for fire services and $10,000 for EMS.

The seven fire companies provide fire and emergency services to municipalities in both Chester and Delaware counties.

Acting Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Thomas Cook announced that more than $31 million was awarded to 2,336 applicants throughout the commonwealth.
