2025 Regional Juried Spring Open Exhibition Open At Wayne Art Center

WAYNE, PA — Wayne Art Center's 2025 Regional Juried Spring Open Exhibition is underway now and showcasing 200 paintings, drawings, works on paper, photography, mixed media works, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, metals, fiber and more.

The exhibition is on display in the art center’s Davenport, Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith and Vidinghoff and Radnor Township Lobby Galleries now through April 26.

This exhibition includes nearly 200 paintings, drawings, works on paper, photography, mixed media works, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, metals, fiber and works utilizing 3D printing technology created by artists from the mid-Atlantic region states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. All works are available for purchase.

Juror Christine Lafuente chose the work that comprises the biennial exhibition. Lafuente reviewed more than 1,000 images online submitted by nearly 500 artists to select the 195 works by 195 artists invited for this exhibition. Lafuente said she was "impressed, inspired and delighted by the range of materials, uniqueness of vision, level of craftsmanship, intelligence, and humor found throughout the online applications."

Lafuente is an artist, curator, educator and writer. She received her MFA from Brooklyn College and has won numerous grants and awards, including a Juror’s Award for Excellence from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Known for a masterful depiction of light, use of color and for expressive and rich brushwork, her paintings are represented by Somerville Manning Gallery in Delaware and can be found in several public collections including Princeton University and ARCO Chemical Company, Philadelphia. Lafuente lives and works in Brooklyn and spends her summers painting in Maine.

On Sunday, Wayne Art Center hosted a reception to open this exhibition. More than 300 artists and art lovers were in attendance at this event as Wayne Art Center’s Executive Director Nancy Campbell presented the exhibition awards.

Artists with work recognized by the juror included: Paul Dusold, Best in Show; Kate Brockman, First Place; Beverly Keefer, Second Place; and Andrea Finch, Third Place.

The following artists’ work received Juror’s Awards: J. Clayton Bright, Tracy Everly, Deanna McLaughlin, Steve Scheuring, Ronald Washington and Frank Zadlo and these participating artists received Honorable Mentions: Jim Conner, Nancy Granda, Chris Krupinski, Mary Pritchard, Val Rossman, Shireen Saidi and John Stritzinger.

"The Regional Spring Open Juried exhibition has been an integral part of Wayne Art Center’s repertoire of exhibitions for over 40 years," Campbell said. "We are honored to have Christine Lafuente’s participation as juror for the 2025 Regional Spring Open Juried Exhibition and pleased to showcase the recent works of nearly 200 talented artists from the Mid-Atlantic region. This year’s not to be missed exhibition is very impressive, featuring an eclectic display of works, representing a unique collection of diverse styles and mediums."

Visitors are invited to view the exhibition through April 26. Wayne Art Center galleries are open
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
