"This year’s theme, Artists in the Making, will introduce young artists to the many subjects they see artists use, from portraiture and landscapes to cityscapes and fantasy," Nancy Campbell Executive Director & Chief Curator of Wayne Art Center told Patch.

Campers will create their own masterpieces through more than 200 unique classes offered over 11 one-week themed sessions.

Inspired by famous artists through the ages, campers will learn how to produce portraits of family, friends, and pets, create landscapes and seascapes, discover how to transform ordinary city scenes into extraordinary works of art, and explore the world of fantasy, while developing a voice that is unique and recognizable.

Flexible morning and afternoon sessions accommodate busy family schedules, with an added lunch-bunch option for those who wish to spend a full day at camp.

Preschool Art classes are returning this year to offer budding artists, ages 4 to 5, a nurturing environment to freely express their creativity.

The popular Teen Studio offers intensive study and encourages students to explore a diverse array of art mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, photography, cooking and more - while giving each teen the opportunity to experiment and express their inner self while advancing their work to the next level.

Wayne Art Center’s talented and experienced faculty is committed to encouraging each camper to imagine, visualize, innovate, and think critically in a stimulating and supportive environment.

"Our experienced and talented Summer Art Camp faculty sets this camp apart," Campbell said. "These teaching artists strive to spark creativity in each camper through personalized guidance in our small classes. Together with our dedicated and enthusiastic faculty, staff, interns and volunteers, Wayne Art Center looks forward to providing another creative summer of arts enrichment for our community."

Small class sizes enable personalized guidance along with the support and encouragement from an enthusiastic group of summer interns and teen volunteers.
