Seth Reeser, chairman of the commission, said that the commission is responsible for the preservation of the township’s tree canopy.

The commissioner reviews tree removals, and construction permits to ensure the preservation of the township’s tree canopy,

Reeser said the commission is looking for volunteers to help with the planting. Reeser said since 2020 the commission has planted 535 native trees.

The commission’s goal was to plant 200 this year. To date, a total of 230 new trees have been planted.

The commission also plans to remove dead trees from township parks. The trees are available on a first-come, first-service basis for residents.
