UPDATE: Man Killed By Falling Tree in Villanova

The man was reportedly driving when the tree fell on his car.

A man was killed Monday in Villanova when a tree fell on the car he was driving.

The man’s car was near the intersection of Sproul Road and Sunnyhill Lane in Villanova around 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 when the tree fell, NBC Philadelphia reported. The car then struck another vehicle.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Paoli Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, philly.com said.

The other driver was not injured, philly.com said.

The tree also hit a utility pole, bringing down power lines. The intersection will remain closed through Tuesday morning while utility crews work, philly.com said.

The accident is being attributed to high winds and saturated ground, NBC said.
