‘Multiple’ Radnor Noise Complaints Made Ahead Of July 4, Police Say

Several West Wayne residents complained of fireworks around 3 a.m. on Friday, days ahead of the holiday, police said.

RADNOR, PA - Multiple noise complaints were called in at around 3 a.m. Friday concerning loud fireworks in Radnor Township, authorities said.

The calls were made by residents in “several” West Wayne neighborhoods, police said in a statement Friday afternoon.

Radnor police officers who were dispatched to the area were unable to locate the source, though an investigation found that the cause of the noise stemmed from fireworks in the area of Odorisio Park, police said.

According to Pennsylvania state law, fireworks can’t be ignited on public property without permission of the property owner. Fireworks can also be used July 2, 3, 4 and Dec. 31 until 1 a.m., as well as the preceding and following Fridays and Saturdays until 1 a.m. if July 4 falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Though Radnor Township’s noise ordinance does not specifically mention fireworks, unreasonable noise can warrant fines of up to $600, plus jail time for as long as 30 days.

“Radnor Township Noise Ordinance cites, “unreasonable noise”, so please be considerate of what time and where fireworks are being set,” Radnor police previously said.
