RADNOR, PA — Radnor Township commissioners Monday night unanimously approved plans for a three-story parking garage on Villanova University’s campus at 800 East Lancaster Ave.

The new garage will replace a two-story existing garage, which will be demolished.

The number of parking spaces will increase from 175 to 307. The garage will be three stories, with four levels of parking. The university has a total of 10,870 students, including 7,032 undergraduate students and 3,838 graduate students.

Construction will begin in the spring of 2024, and a timeline for completion has not yet been determined, according to Jonathan Gust, assistant vice president of communications.

Gust said while construction is going on, the university will be reassigning parking permit holders to other parking garages and parking lots around campus.

The university has additional parking spaces on a new level that was added to the Law School parking garage.

The contractor for the project has not yet been determined.

The current garage was near the end of its useful life, according to Nicholas Caniglia, an attorney representing Villanova.

Commissioner Sean Farhy thanked the university for considering the residents' concerns.

Residents had expressed concerns in prior meetings about traffic.
