Outdoor Dining In Garrett Hill Is Approved 4-2 By Radnor Board

The ordinance approved allowing outdoor dining from March 1 to Nov. 20 for restaurants that also have indoor dining.

RADNOR, PA —Radnor commissioners Monday night voted 4-2 to approve an ordinance to provide outdoor dining in the Garrett Hill section of the township.

The time for outdoor dining is 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. From March 1 to Nov. 30. In addition, outdoor dining would be limited to 40 percent of the number of indoor dining spaces.

Outdoor dining would be closed when the indoor kitchen is closed.

“I’m proud to have championed a much-needed change for both Garrett Hill and our business district." said Commissioner Sean Farhy, who represents Garrett Hill. "I’m certain that outdoor dining will have a positive effect on the community."

Moira Mulroney, board president, said she is in favor of outdoor dining in Garrett Hill, noting the township staff can control issues that may arise.

Commissioners Jake Abel and Jack Larkin voted against the ordinance.

Garrett Hill is a residential community with a small commercial area near the intersection of Conestoga Road and Garrett Avenue, consisting of a few taverns and small businesses. It has a Bryn Mawr postal address.

The ordinance sets regulations for outdoor dining, including only allowing outdoor dining on the same premises as indoor dining that are licensed food establishments.

In addition, outdoor dining would be limited to 40 percent of the number of indoor dining spaces.
Outdoor dining would be closed when the indoor kitchen is closed.

Residents react

Resident Lou DeFelice noted that the summertime is slow for the restaurant business, noting outdoor dining would help boost business.

Christine Bastian said she lives near the restaurant and favors outdoor dining in Garrett Hill.
