A suspect allegedly broke into a Newtown Road home Monday afternoon and stole a woman's purse.

The Radnor Police Department is investigating a home invasion and burglary that occurred Monday afternoon, according to an alert from the township.

Police say that a woman walked to the front door of her home on the 600 Block of Newtown Road to answer a knock on the door. She then saw a white man standing at her back door and began to dial 911.

According to police, the suspect broke open the rear door and entered the home, grabbed a purse and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

There is no word on whether the burglary is related to a similar incident from earlier this month, when a man identified as Matthew Heckman allegedly burglarized a Hawthorne Road home in Radnor. When the homeowner returned to find Heckman in the house, the suspect escaped the scene on SEPTA’s Norristown High Speed Line, police say. A warrant has been filed for Heckman’s arrest, but he has not been placed into custody.
